*Homeward Bound 1*

For my entire life I have always had a cat, a dog, or both.  For the past 10 years, I have only had cats.  Last summer I had to get surgery, so my mom decided it would be a good idea to get another kitten.  Our 17-year-old cat, Rico, was not doing well and we wanted our 10-year-old cat, Pouncer, to have a friend when Rico was no longer with us.  That is when we decided to get our first rescue.  We decided to get a rescue because I feel that rescue animals need us more than animals that already have good homes.  Her name is Pyrrha, which in Greek means red, and she is 15-months-old.  She is orange and white and full of so much personality.  We got her at the beginning of summer and Pouncer and Rico hated her.  Pyrrha would attack them whenever she was feeling frisky; she would ride them like a bull and would terrorize them all the time.  It was funny for us to watch because we knew she wasn’t hurting either of them, she was just wanting to play with them, even if she had to force it.  (Pouncer and Pyrrha get along ok now, but Pouncer still has to knock Pyrrha down a couple levels when Pyrrha starts getting too excited.)   Back to the story, this “playing” continued all summer until I finally had to leave for school.  I will continue with how we got our second rescue on the next blog, Homeward Bound 2!
